Also, thank you to our students and families in remote learning for their adjustments to accommodate the next phase of Return Together 365. Thank you to our students, families, and VVSD staff who all contributed to the return of our students in special programs, Kindergarten, 1st & 6th grade students, and STEP students to hybrid learning. Where VVSD is at the Return Together 365 Plan Thank you for your continued partnership as we take another step forward together for our learners. Also, please continue to follow the guidance for proper usage of facial coverings, social distancing, proper hand hygiene, and avoiding large gatherings. Daily symptom screening and self-certification is a key strategy as a reminder, we require that individuals stay home when they are symptomatic, have household members who are exhibiting symptoms, have had exposure to a COVID positive individual, or have had exposure to someone who is awaiting test results. Our staff and families are demonstrating they take the safety precautions and protocols seriously and we must continue to maintain this focus. It will take a community effort to stay on this path and keep our schools in a solid position to remain open. We continue to monitor our immediate ZIP code positivity rates which show very promising trends of stabilized metrics and lower levels of community transmission. We are encouraged to learn that Region 7 will be advancing to Tier 1 mitigations due to sustained progress in case positivity and multiple other metrics. We should certainly celebrate our successes this week, and we must also keep a high level of vigilance of doing everything we possibly can to minimize risks in-school and ensure a healthy environment for our staff and students. We look forward to seeing more learners on-site and building upon our early success. Tuesday, our gradual and measured return to on-site learning takes the next step with the return of our 2nd, 3rd, and 7th grade students along with our high school seniors and high school students in special programs. The collective effort of leaders, staff, students, and families made this possible and this is certainly an accomplishment that the entire VVSD Community should be proud of! The positive start to our transition to hybrid can only be attributed to the hard work of our teams and support departments across the District and to the partnership and effort of our families and learners. Students and staff in buildings have done an amazing job this week and while many things are different from what we are accustomed to, the positive energy of seeing one another in-person and having the familiarity of being back in our schools is truly a special thing. Thank you to everyone for making this happen. Of course there have been feelings of anxiousness and of course some in-the-moment adjustments were required, but together we’ve successfully modeled flexibility, grace and partnership to make a positive transition for our learners, whether they are on-site or at home. At the same time, remote learning and hybrid learning at home required several adjustments to allow both instructional models to run concurrently. This week we reached a major milestone as we welcomed back our students in special programs and those who have selected the hybrid learning option in Kindergarten, 1st grade, 6th grade, and STEP.
